Dear Friends,
As we near the Winter Retreat next week we can review some of the practices that help bring us into mindfulness.
For those unable to attend, these practices can help us stay connected to the community wherever we find ourselves.
Bell Of Mindfulness
Listen, Listen, (breathing in)
This wonderful sound brings me back to my true home. (breathing out)
The bell of mindfulness is the voice of the Buddha calling us back to ourselves. We might be aware of this voice in the song of a bird, the wind in the trees, the ring of the phone, a person walking mindfully and many wonders of life. We can stop, perhaps recite the above gatha while taking 3 breaths, and resume our activity in a more attentive and loving way.
